It was 6 years ago, in February of 2020, that I launched the podcast version of mylifeinconcert.com (yeah, I’m only two months late for the anniversary … I’m getting there).
It was a mere few weeks before Covid shut down the world and ten years after the launching the written-only blog. Covid lockdown was initially fortuitous, at least in terms of the podcast, as I had a few years with a fair amount of free time to create episodes.
That has changed radically in the last two years, which have sometimes been overwhelmingly over-packed with multiple converging issues. Hence why no new episode last year.
I could say that many of these things have been or are in the process of finally getting solved, and I’m hoping my free time will be much more open in just a few months. But why say that and jinx things?
On the plus side, I have started my SNAPSHOTS series: bite-sized mini-reviews of gigs I am attending now. It’s started with The B-52s, Devo, & Lene Lovich, 54-40, Broken Social Scene, Gang of Four, and Mac DeMarco.
While I haven’t been posting podcasts as of late, the irony is that my blog and podcast numbers have surged starting last October. I have absolutely No Idea why this is happening, and seemingly continuing, but I am grateful that’s the case. A Big Thank You to all the new readers and listeners. I hope you’re enjoying.
Mucho thanks to those of you who continue to support what I am doing when I am able to post. Please all cross your fingers for me that the slowing avalanche of impediments will cease in the months ahead. I still have so much I want to do in terms of mylifeinconcert.com.
Also, in the process of cleaning out my parents’ house these past few months, I have come upon treasure troves of vintage ephemera that I had thought lost, or I had forgotten about. Opening one big suitcase in particular was like discovering my own time capsule of accumulated stuff from the later 70s through the mid-80s. I am hoping to start featuring some of those items on the blog soon.
And, yes, the oft-promised next two-parter episodes looking back on my 10 favourite live shows that I’ve seen in London, Ontario, and then another looking at 12 historic London gigs that I wish I’d seen, is still in the works. It’s coming. (Yes, and so is Christmas, I know).
As always, a big thanks and lots of love to Cublet for helping me make so many things happen and sending gratitude for the essential help, knowledge, support, and efforts of Tech Guy D—I have a great team behind me that makes the podcast, blog, and endeavour possible!
For those of you who have been faithfully listening and enjoying, please spread the word about mylifeinconcert.com.
