Okay, so my life has been crazydoodles since last summer, and particularly since last fall, and in the midst of it all I missed mylifeinconcert.com’s 5th podcast anniversary.
Whoopsy-daisy, and all that!
It was five years ago on February 7, 2020 when I resurrected the mylifeinconcert.com as a podcast, a decade after launching the blog in 2010.
As you may have noticed, there hasn’t been a new episode since last summer. I can assure you that the will and passion is still there, but life keeps interrupting and precluding that happening. And some of the busy stuff has been great, other stuff not so much. A mix … but, still, an (temporary) impediment.
Damn, but more is coming.
Normally I parse out my combined stats for podcast downloads and views from the mylifeinconcert.com YouTube channel for anniversary episodes like this one to discern where the most listeners are coming from, most popular EPs etc … except there is none of that this year, because, well, read above.
I did do a quick glance at locations and it seems to reveal that that Toronto/GTHA and London, Ontario have my biggest hub of listeners (thanks fellow Londoners and close-by Torontonians) while Frankfurt, Germany, Melbourne, Australia, and The Villages in Florida USA are close behind.
Thanks to all who listen! I love to see that people from far-away global locations are tuning in. Genuine gratitude.
While I launched the original blog, and garnered my initial audience, on the late, great OpenSalon.com in June 2010 (I mark that as a separate anniversary), I paused this project when OS sadly closed in 2015.
After a late-2010s breather, I re-launched mylifeinconcert.com as a podcast on February 7, 2020. And, voila! Here we are five years on.
Sending much gratitude to my podcast guests who have joined me so far throughout the series, in particular my long-time friend Phil Robinson aka Special Guests. He’s been a guest in many podcasts (such as on EPs for show by the Ramones, The (English) Beat & REM, the Gang of Four, UB40, Siouxsie & the Banshees, etc.).
Phil will be returning to Canada and to London in just a few weeks and I can’t wait to see him. While he is here, we will be making a video together with each of us talking about some of our favourite London live shows. Stay tuned …
Thanks also go to Skye Sylvain, Noelle, Colin, Marc Hodgkinson, Rob/Autobahn, and to my mother, who passed away in August of 2024, at age 97, for taking the time to share your memories and insights with the podcast.
Big thanks also to Cublet for not only his interview participation but also for helping me out with this and other undertakings (and the essential help, knowledge, support, and efforts of Tech Guy D—I have a great team behind me that makes the podcast, blog, and endeavour possible! A million thanks to you both!) Cublet helps keep so many things run smoothly, so I must say: I couldn’t do this podcast or live my life without you. You are someone who I can trust implicitly and who always has my back. And vice versa. Lots of love.
For those of you who have been faithfully listening and enjoying, please spread the word about mylifeinconcert.com.

In the meantime, the next episodes will be a two-parter, looking back on my 10 favourite live shows that I’ve seen in London, Ontario, and then another looking at 11 historic London gigs that I wish I’d seen (more below).
Let’s meet up at the next show. See you there and see you then.
Cheers!
David Bowie with the Spiders from Mars with a brilliant performance of “Five Years” on the Old Grey Whistle Test, 1972. I remember that my sister had the Ziggy Stardust 8-Track for car.
